Skateboarding originated in California circa 1949 when surfers experienced flat waves and needed something to do in those times. This era was called sidewalk surfing and ultimately grew into street skateboarding and vertical skateboarding we know today. As of 2020, skateboarding is now an official event at the Olympics. There are several types of freestyle BMXing which include: street, park, vertical ramp, trails and flatland. As of 2020, BMXing park is now an official event at the Olympics. is an action sport in which a person uses skates that are designed in one row to perform tricks such as grinds and jumps. The earliest inline skating can be dated back to the early 1980s in which a group of hockey players were looking for a way to practice during the summer. The first skates designed for performance and tricks were designed by Rollerblade and were introduced in 1988.
